One year later and still in our dark hearts, Alexander Mcqueen took his own life last year on Feburary 11th, 2010. GOD SAVE MCQUEEN.
A force to be reckoned with, the void in his absence is still abundant in the fashion world. Armed with purely genius and strictly creative views, he created pieces that made jaws drop during his several runway presentations. More artist than business man, he made the runway into a stage to catapult his vision into reality. Sometimes not practical, and on several cases not commercial McQueen the was only designer we remember throughout London FashionWeek. Wouldn't you rather bow out in your moment of glory than fade out and let everyone forget you? Perhaps this is what he was thinking when he hung himself in his London flat, but his designs tell a real story about the man behind the label...
Obsessed with death, and things around it, Mcqueen made millions on whimsical skull prints and accessories bearing crossbones, and religious iconography. This made me a fan of everything he does, especially because he was rebel with more heart in his work than most designers today.
You are missed Mister Lee Mcqueen.
