BLACK IS BACK...BEST OF LONDON FASHIONWEEK FALL 2011: GILES & JULIEN MACDONALD

Faux-fur trimmed dresses and coats, in this primarily black collection is quite fitting from the trends we saw in New York. Giles combines thick, matte leather pieces and sheer accents to create this line that would make any goth shutter in glory. Evening gowns with this re-occurring fur theme adds enough drama to make these all blacks pieces fascinating to see down the runway.

Julien Macdonald's London show was the perfect mix of rock and roll high-fashion. London fashion week was missing a powerhouse show that was still downtown cool, but very marketable to the uptown crowd. Several pieces were goth/rock inspired but surprising pops of colored silk charmeuse dresses made this collection overall a success. Dark straight hair, and vampy plum lips completed every look for this critically-acclaimed show.
