GARETH PUGH, PARIS FASHION WEEK FALL 2011

Gareth Pugh succeeded his previous collection with bringing out all the stops for this upcoming fall season presentation. Something out of the ordinary, Pugh brought color into his usual black palette of clothing. Zipper-details in a shape of a cross bear on the chests' of jackets, lines create panelling on pants in matte leather look phenomenal in head-to-toe looks. Gareth's point of view as a designer always has a futuristic look, with sculpted shoulders and hooded dresses in mixed leathers, wool and scuba materials. The show ended with 8 looks of gold striped, reflective pieces matched with thigh-high strappy-wedge boots. Makeup was minimal on the runway with pockets of navy and gold under the sockets of the eye, and was completely understated but gave a cool edge to the presentation. Pugh doesn't design for a specific person he designs for a genre of people that are literally fashion-forward and don't revisit the past for inspiration. I love everything he does and this collection was worth the wait and anticipation.
